Are you a history buff who has always dreamt of living in a historic neighborhood? If so, the historic Gaslamp District may be just the neighborhood for you! Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this 16.5 block neighborhood is home to 94 structures that have been identified as being of historical or architectural significance. The historical significance of the Gaslamp District doesn't mean it is without modern conveniences; however, as the neighborhood also features numerous restaurants, stores, nightclubs, theaters, galleries and more! In fact, many consider the historic Gaslamp District to be the "hot spot" of downtown San Diego when it comes to the nightlife and enjoying the finer things in life.
  
Local Attractions and Restaurants

 Deciding if the Gaslamp District is Right for You
 
The Gaslamp District does an amazing job of blending the old with the new, as historical buildings have been successfully transformed into popular destinations for visitors as well as residents. Located to the east of Horton Plaza an running south across 4th and 5th Avenues, the Gaslamp District is the ideal neighborhood for those who want to be close to the downtown San Diego nightlife. Shopping and dining opportunities also abound in the area, making it a great choice for those who like to enjoy the finer things in life.
 
Getting around within the Gaslamp Districtis simple, as trolleys as well as romantic horse-drawn carriages are available for travel. Pedi-cabs, which are rickshaws powered by bicycle, are also available for transport through the area.
